2011 Friends of Scouting patch contest!

Are you artisitic and passionate about Scouting? We are looking for someone to design our 2011 Friends of Scouting patch! The Patch Design Contest will run from April 2 through April 20 and is open to anyone with a passion for design and art.

We are very fortunate to have the 2011 FOS patch flown in space by Eagle Scout, Gregory Chamitoff, who was also our keynote speaker at the 2010 Council Dinner. Dr. Chamitoff has graciously offered to take the patch design on his mission, which is scheduled to launch July 29, 2010. It would be good to incorporate the 2011 theme in different ways (for example..."To Bravely go where no Scout has gone before...").

Some things to keep in mind when designing the patch:

1. Incorporate the theme - A Scout is Brave
2. Try and connect the theme to NASA to make the connection that the patch was flown in space
3. Include the year 2011 and council name on the patch
4. Try not to be too detailed as it is difficult to stitch a lot of detail on a small patch.

All submissions must be turned in to Shannon Shaffer at shannon@scccbsa.org by April 20, 2010. Patch dimensions are 5 inches by 2.5 inches.

The winning patch design will be selected and announced by April 29. That design will be flown in space and returned from astronaut Gregory Chamitoff for you to keep.
